Top Ten New Years Resolutions & How They Relate to Couponing!

For the past several days I have been surfing the web searching the top ten New Years Resolutions for 2012. Here is the list that keeps coming up over and over. What I find interesting is that  all of these relate to using coupons. How? As you read each of them you can find a way to integrate coupons and other money saving techniques.  How on earth does one achieve this? Read on and you will learn how.

1 – Quit Smoking
Smoking is one of the number one health problems worldwide.  Quitting smoking as a New Years resolution is difficult and addiction to nicotine is extremely hard to fight. But with enough dedication and assistance, you can stop smoking.

One of the most effective tools to stop smoking is one-on-one counseling, but it can be VERY expensive. Again, by using coupons the Coupon Coach way you WILL be able to afford a counselor, and a LOT of nicotine patches!

2 – Get Out Of Debt

Today, Americans carry an average of over $10,000 in credit card debt and this is a major New Years resolution. In order to get out of debt, review your budget and cut out the things that you really do not need. Even getting one less daily latte or expensive pair of shoes can make a difference in your budget. If you have NEVER used coupons, or have just began dipping your wallet into THE easiest way of saving money, now is the time to go full throttle.

3 – Get Organized

Getting organized can be easy if you are dedicated to carrying through once you get going with it. Break down  things into specifics. Decide precisely what you want to be organized about and then take steps to put it into action. For instance, if you want to be organized about paying your bills every month, mark a day on your calendar when you will pay bills and then set aside a specific place for collecting bills. Then write out your payment checks or log online and make your payments. If you make this into a habit, then it becomes second nature to do.  If you use coupons you HAVE to stay organized to be efficient.  If you don’t have a good binder and other necessities to keep your coupons, circulars, store sales, etc. organized you won’t save as much money.

4 – Spend More Time With Family & Friends

If your New Years resolution is to spend more time with your family and friends, then you need to set aside time to make it happen. One way to accomplish this is to have one night a week that is for social events. Call your friends and make a date for dinner or to go to the movies. Family night is another great way to spend time with your family.  For kids, especially, spending time together can be emotionally healthy and help them develop into healthy adults. Begin making weekly menus and get your kids and spouse involved. Let them choose a meal each week that they LOVE and encourage them to help  make it. Stop grabbing fast food on the way home from work, eating it in the car, and basically having ZERO family time before the kids go to bed.

5 – Get In Shape

Getting in shape is a big commitment. Most Americans are overweight and losing even a few pounds and keeping them off can be a challenge for a New Years resolution. If you are out of shape, start slowly and talk to your doctor to discuss any health problems you might have to take into consideration when making a workout plan. January is THE best time to find deals on fitness studios and health gear. Check out several gyms in your area and compare prices and look for promos on their internet sites.

6 – Help Others

Helping others can be accomplished in a number of ways. If you are active in your church, consider participating in charitable activities, like visiting residents in elderly care or nursing homes. Helping others can be as simple as being kind to the people around you and being willing to lend a comforting shoulder to someone in need. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to “pay it forward” . When your stock pile is established it allows you to share with others. So many people are on hard times and would love extra toiletries and basic food necessities. Invite people to “shop in your home” – let them choose the good stuff; not just the left overs of what you won’t use.

7 – Learn Something New

Think about something that you have always wanted to know and take a shot at it.  If you take the attitude that you can always learn something new, then you will grow as a person. If you have not learned to use coupons strategically, NOW is the time to start. Check out our 7 day action plan videos to get you on your way to become a Coupon Coach shopper.

8 – Travel to New Places

Choose a place to travel where you have never been and begin to plan your trip.  Because you will save 75-90% on your groceries every week you will have money left over to buy financial freedom, which includes traveling without using credit cards. Do this: Every week when you save money, take that amount and put it in an envelope and store it in a safe place or put in a bank account steered directly towards travel. You will be surprised at just how much money you will save in a very short amount of time. HAPPY TRAVELS!

9 – Enjoy Life More

If you have a positive attitude and make the best of every situation you are presenting with in life, you will find yourself happier and more content, even through the difficult times. When we have less stress in our lives it stands to reason that we will enjoy our lives more. When you get rid of major stressor’s such as paying too much money for most anything you buy, you can rest assured that you will enjoy life more and feel the stress melt away.

10 – Go to School

In today’s economy, people are often looking for ways to reinvent themselves. Going to school is one of the top New Years resolutions as a way to start a new career or develop new skills. Even if you goal is simply to learn about a new topic, going to school is a great way to develop new friends and engage yourself. Again, if you save a LOT of money using coupons, not only can your send your children to school, but you can go as well!
